about us

orca produzioni
If we follow evolutionary theory, we are led to believe that the human being is derived from the ape. Yet it is amazing how much, both affectively and socially, humans have in common with an animal as different as orcas. Orcas – better known as Killer whales – are monogamous animals, marine mammals that are extremely loyal and linked to the concept of family in a truly indissoluble way. The male orca, in fact, after choosing a mate stays with her for life. At the same time, however, females that have not yet mated tend to form groups, giving rise to true extended families. We would certainly not be wrong in listing orcas among the most intelligent, loyal animals with an exquisite sense of community.

It is precisely from this admiration, mixed with a touch of envy towards them, that the idea of ORCA was born. ORCA is a young film production company made up of film professionals who, in addition to their passion, share the same idea of cinema. Comprising producers, directors, screenwriters, actors and sound engineers, ORCA is, even before being a production company, an extended family that has embraced a very precise idea of cinema… and intends to remain faithful to it forever!

ORCA is made up of industry professionals specialised in different fields, which allows the company to adopt a production approach capable of supporting, relying solely on the experience of its members, most of the stages in the production of an audiovisual product: from creativity to development, from organisation to direction, through to editing and sound design. The idea behind ORCA is to build a new cinematic language starting from the past, rediscovering all those techniques and filming methods that led to the creation of so many masterpieces we all grew up with. At a time when we are all in a voracious search for technological innovation and ultra-modern languages, ORCA decides to pursue the greatest of all experiments: classicism. In 2024, with the start of the shooting of the film “Porcelain Bodies Abandoned in the Sun on a Scorching Summer in Central Italy” directed by Giuliano Giacomelli, ORCA presented itself on the Italian market as the only independent company who films in 35mm film with a 2P shooting system.
